What's New at FSC Papakura for 2021? As we start off the brand new year, there are some fresh new faces in the team, as well as new paint and signage at the Centre. Fresh New Faces Joining our FSC Papakura Team for 2021 are our new ELC Head Teacher, Maria Tuia-Pemerika, and our new HIPPY Coordinator, Erin Lamont. Introducing Maria – our New ELC Head Teacher Maria is local to the Papakura community, a mum herself, who comes to us with 17 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. She has worked at all kinds of ECE’s – from big corporates to kindergartens to local community centres, and has concluded that her passion lies with the community. She loves working in communities like Papakura, where she feels she can make a more meaningful contribution. Maria is off to a solid start spreading the word in the community with a letterbox drop letting people know we offer 30 Hours Free; she also has lots of other ideas to promote the centre. We are excited about having Maria to lead our wonderful team Papakura Early Learning Centre! Introducing Erin – our New HIPPY Coordinator Erin also comes to us from an extensive ECE background – she knows early learning, she knows Te Whariki “inside out” – and is excited to take on the role of HIPPY Coordinator in Papakura. Erin is looking forward to getting to know our existing HIPPY families, and then plans to recruit even more, using her ECE knowledge and networks to help get the word out about HIPPY. Fresh Paint, New Signs The building was looking pretty tired and was in need of a freshen up, so painters got to work over the holiday break on the interior and exterior paintwork. The Early Learning Centre also got a refresh, with a cool, calm coastal shade on the walls, setting off the wooden beams and colourful children’s art, which will soon fill up the pin-boards. We want our community to know that we’re here, so late last year we also redesigned the signs for our FSC building and Early Learning Centre - so now it's nice and clear who we are and what we do.
