Web-HIPPY launched for Lockdown

Great Potentials worked around the clock with our international HIPPY community to develop an online version of HIPPY meaning we are now able to continue to support our families while keeping our staff safe within their bubbles.

Some interesting facts about the role out of Web-HIPPY include:

Over 130 staff trained online
50 weeks of curriculum recreated online
15 Storybooks digitally remastered for online distribution
Nearly 300hrs of online training delivered already

The vast majority of our sites are operating in some way in level 4 and will continue to do so. Providing structured learning and engagement opportunities for parents and their children remains one of our core commitments.

HIPPY Builds Confidence and Social Skills

Through HIPPY, Flynn was introduced to a variety of social and learning activities and built confidence and social skills. Recently, Flynn started going to a local Playcentre. We look forward to seeing how HIPPY supports Flynn’s journey throughout the year!

Brought together to showcase the research from New Zealand and international sources that highlight the effectiveness of our HIPPY programme - in improving educational outcomes of children born into low socioeconomic backgrounds and empowering both parent and child generations with critical skills and confidence.

Storybooks are an important element of HIPPY. In the last few months, HIPPY NZ team has developed and published four new storybooks for two-year-olds as part of the Ministry of Education contract to deliver the “Whanau In-Home Learning programme”.
