From Dame Lesley Max, Founder and Co-Chair

"Great Potentials is all about positive impact. The stories and graphs throughout this Annual Report provide evidence of just such impact. We are heartened to know how our services responded and ‘pivoted’ to face the changing circumstances. A prime example is HIPPY’s use of technology which meant that deliveries of the programme to parents and children continued seamlessly, providing certainty during change and uncertainty." Jacki Richardson

From our Ceo, Jacki Richardson:

"Our focus as an organisation is on Taking Action and Getting Results so we could not let lockdown prevent us from helping children, young people and families towards brighter futures. I am immensely proud of all the staff as we
• Launched our new website
• Developed a webHIPPY for age 4
• Delivered youth mentoring via ZOOM
• Engaged ECE families through Storypark
• Delivered counselling and social work through phone support and more during lockdown

It was our team who rose to the challenges and continued, almost as usual, to see the opportunity, take action to support our communities and see people continue to achieve results important for them and their whānau...

"The existence of COVID-19 has created a new normal but we are fortunate in New Zealand to be better placed than many of our colleagues and families around the world. With or without COVID, we remain dedicated to our programmes, HIPPY, MATES and Family Service Centres, which are truly life-changing.

"This is in no small way due to the passion, energy and resilience of the Leadership Team and staff who continue with ‘Business as Usual’ whilst delivering something that is not usual, and I thank them for that. I am also indebted to the support of our Board, in particular Dame Lesley Max as both Founder and co-chair, who share our commitment to breaking the cycle of disadvantage.

"Lastly, but by no means least, heartfelt thanks to our key supporters; Friedlander Foundation, Hugh Green Foundation, Joyce Fisher Charitable Trust, David Levene Foundation, Merchant 1948 (Young Hearts Project) and Wright Family Foundation, without whom so much less would be achieved."
