In 2021-2022, 4,841 children, young people and families were supported by us across New Zealand through our three life-changing programmes; HIPPY, MATES and our Family Service Centres.

We are proud that our work has continued, despite and through COVID, and that we continue to deliver life-changing programmes. Here is a snapshot of our impact in 2021-2022.

From Dame Lesley Max and Fuimaono Tuiasau, Co-Chairs

The theme of this report – ‘Poipoia te kakano kia puawai: Nurture the seed and it will bloom’ – is totally fitting for Great Potentials Foundation’s mission and achievements. ‘Poipoia te kakano kia puawai: Nurture the seed and it will bloom’ conveys the sense that, like seeds, we all need the conditions, environment, and care to enable all those whom Great Potential Foundations serves, to flourish. From Jacki Richardson, CEO:

“Our programmes are the essential nurturing force that enable people to bloom. Our MATES programme, through its guided mentoring and tutoring supports children and young people at year 8, year 13 and tertiary to develop academically, emotionally and socially. Our Family Service Centres through a range of social work, counselling and education initiatives support both individuals and families to break the cycle of disadvantage and realise potential. Our HIPPY programme has been independently assessed as generating $2.50 of impact for every $1 invested.”

“Three evidence–based programmes are in place, producing outcomes beyond the level of investment in them, because people who work here believe in the inherent resourcefulness and resilience of the people we work with.” (CEO’s Report, Page 5)
